‘The Immaculate Conception’

Mary’s figure is represented in blue robes with her sapphire cloak being supported by two angels. She stands in the traditional iconography above the large sun, crescent moon with her feet crushing a serpent.

The predella: depicts The Marriage of Mary & Joseph before a High Priest. The couple, holding arms, make their vows facing each other in front of the high priest. The flames of two candles are directed over the couple representing the union of their two spirits. Two witnesses appear in the upper corners.  The design on one of the witnesses cloaks is a scallop shell, which usually represents pilgrimage.
